Lamb Shanks in Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients
- 4 lamb shanks (the butchers here cut the bone through but leave the meat attached)
- 2 slices bacon
- 1 ounce butter
- 1 onion
- 1 ounce plain flour
- 1 (5 ounce) can tomato paste
- 1 1⁄2 cups stock
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1⁄2 cup vinegar
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
